The actual game play is very simple and fairly lacking and while the game isn't so challenging that it often becomes an issue, Komaru's slow movement speed can make certain boss fights frustrating as it can be very difficult to avoid certain attacks. Character development in general is well done and as stated above, the narrative eventually comes together. Komaru and Toko are a fun double act that keeps things interesting and watching their relationship develop is one of the true highlights. As with previous Danganronpa titles, things are left relatively unexplained at first and it's not until a ways into the game that it becomes clearer what the villains true reasons and motivations are, it comes together eventually but feels sloppy at first so be prepared to be a bit confused as to what's going on until around the halfway point.
